Rowan Atkinson’s McLaren F1 Is Back In Action

Remember when Rowan Atkinson crashed his McLaren F1 into a tree last year — it wasn’t pretty — actually it was pretty scary looking. Fortunately, Atkinson was able to walk away from the crash with only a relatively minor injury but his McLaren was mangled to the point where we thought for sure it wouldn’t be fixed. Turns out it wasn’t a complete write off after all. McLaren’s Special Operations division decided the F1 was actually a repair job with an estimated cost of £910,000 (1.4 million dollars). The insurance company paid out to fix it and officially make it the most expensive insurance payout ever recorded in Britain.

So what did Atkinson do once the car was fixed — drive it of course. He wasted no time at all getting back into the drivers seat. Lets just hope he steers clear of the trees this time!

Still can’t believe it’s the largest auto insurance payout in British history.

I wonder what his premiums are like…

    It’s ironic that the real Mr.Bean can’t drive properly…

You should check a bit more about him. He SURELY does know how to drive. You know, even pros sometimes can’t avoid crashes, and I think Rowan Atkinson could play with some of them 😉

It’s hard to keep it straight when you have one eye looking at the road and one eye looking for it.

Rowan is actually a damn talent driver. HE has had that F1 for 15+years and has an amazing amazing collection of equally rare and exotic cars. He is one of a handful of large private collectors who actually drives all his cars.. on a very regular basis, his talent for driving and racing is inspiring for others.
That particular crash was an accident, and just that. – shit happens if you will.
